Born and raised in Golden BC, Peggy moved to Edmonton AB, in 1985 to attend the University of Alberta in the Honours Sociology/Philosophy program. After graduating and working in the academic environment for a few years, her husband, Jo Ludwig and Peggy moved to Victoria BC, where they opened KilnArt Glass Studio in 1997.

Ray started carving canoe paddles when living in Winnipeg. There is little demand for long flexible lake touring paddles here on the coast but his mother has arthritic hands and requested cooking utensils with large oval handles and small blades. Upon using them, many of his family and friends wanted some. Following their enviable "you should sell these" advice he has been doing so for 20 years.

Working primarily in Silver and Gold, Patricia Hughes has become a seasoned West Coast Silversmith who continues to create fine art objects to wear. Her unique hand crafted designs employ both traditional and abstract motifs, where the use of semi-precious stones satisfies her passion for colour.

Joan Kagan has been involved with pottery for over thirty years, continuing her fascination with the potter's wheel. She believes that a person can't have too many bowls, and that even the most basic every day pottery can be displayed as well as used. Her mission is to create pottery that is practical for daily use and pleasing to look at.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Jo came to Canada in 1977. In 1983, he completed a Heavy Duty Mechanic apprenticeship, and in 1986, enrolled at the University of Alberta in the Philosophy Honours program, after which he went on to graduate studies in Philosophy of Art. In 1996, his wife, Peggy Brackett and Jo moved to Victoria BC, where they opened KilnArt Glass Studio in March of 1997. In 2008, they moved house and studio to Crofton, B.C.

"Can you teach quilling to the children?" This request from the Head Teacher in an elementary school in the West Sussex countryside in England set Jenny to work learning yet another Teacher's Aid skill, first mastering the techniques herself, then passing the basics on to the children.

I have been fascinated with beading, jewellery making and putting it together since I was a teenager when I produced and sold my jewellery creations at the local market. My obsession evolved to torching my own glass beads and using them as inspiration for my jewellery designs. This glass obsession continued with kiln formed artglass and the production of functional, artful and sculptural glass pieces.

Paul has lived and worked in Duncan for 35 years and after retiring from teaching and administration in elementary schools, he has continued to develop his woodturning skills. Paul works mainly on bowls from locally-grown wood, each piece chosen from salvaged trees for its particular grain and colour, so that no two pieces are ever the same. Many of the pieces have natural inclusions of bark, or voids, and these are left to make the bowl as much a piece of art as it is practical. Paul chooses interesting Island woods such as Dogwood, Broadleaf Maple, Western Yew, Yellow Cedar and, of course, garden fruit trees and imported exotics which overgrow their gardens. In addition to bowls, Paul is experimenting with highly-figured Maple to create cooking tools, and serving platters.
