Sala, Renee

My name is Renee Sala and I'm a second-generation potter working at my craft in Victoria, BC.   I've been in and around a pottery studio my entire life, and while in art school at Camosun College in Victoria, I decided to pursue pottery as a career.  My work is a reflection of my influences, and of my surroundings.  I've spent a good deal of my time travelling throughout the world, mostly in Asia, which is indicated by the simple shapes and lines of my pieces.  The stamp-work I use connects me to my mother because all of the stamps I use were hand-made by her when she was still potting.  Warm sparkling browns and rich changing blues work together to express my love of the coast.

Dianne began her clay studies at Elmwood Studios in London, England. It was here that she developed her love of clay and a desire to learn as much as she could about its possibilities. In Canada, further studies at the University of Regina and Emily Carr College of Art and Design in Vancouver led naturally into teaching, a most wonderful way to learn.
