Sandra Jupe has a passion for fibres. She is currently working with wools, combining knitting and felting techniques to produce bags and vessels.
Although her mother was a skilled knitter, producing many well-loved sweaters, Sandra did not learn to knit until she was a young adult. When she became a mother herself, she knitted garments for her two sons. During that creative period in the 1970's, Sandra spun large quantities of wool for a local yarn shop; attended fibre-related classes; and met Kit Hutchin through a shared interest in wool and knitting. Time and distance put the friendship on hold.
During the next fifteen years, which included a career in the food industry, there was little time for knitting. In 1992, a chance meeting with Kit became the catalyst for a renewed enthusiasm for wools and knitting.
Sandra is now enthralled with exploring shapes, textures and colours through felted knitting.
