Born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Michaele Freeman has been influenced by the beauty and power of the ocean surrounding Vancouver Island on which she lives.

She has been involved in creative endeavours all her adult life experimenting in such mediums as fabric, ceramics, stained glass, pottery, pencil drawing, watercolour and acrylic. She enjoys the Westcoast themes, having a love of the ocean, and the surrounding scenery. The beauty of flowers, nature and her garden also inspire her. Michaele has completed some commission pieces as well, recently including pet and grandchildren portraits done in pencil (from photos).

Michaele's watercolour paintings have been displayed in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, at the Chalet Estate Winery, Gorge on Art (juried) since 2002, the Legislative Dining Room, Studio 30 Art Club exhibitions and other venues.

For the past few years, she has taken an interest in traditional rug hooking, combining her drawing and painting skills with strips of wool fabric, pulling loops through burlap. "It is like painting in slow motion" and she is finding this craft quite exciting. She designs her own rugs and dyes the wool to create an effect that she finds pleasing to the eye.

Check out her website to watch for more upcoming events.
