It seems as though Beverly has always been compelled to express herself in one art form or another. Drawing seriously at a very early age led to her attending the Vancouver School of Arts and a lifetime of attending classes with other artists whose works intrigued her. She has taken many classes in drawing, oil painting, watercolour, colour theory and textile manipulation. Beading, needlework, pattern making and sculpting with various clays has also been a part of her journey into the world of doll making.

Although she is self-taught, she has drawn inspiration from many internationally renowned doll designers whose tested methods have provided her with the skill level needed to recreate little people from cloth and clay. At present, some of her work starts with the foundation of their designs.

Beverly has always been drawn to textiles as a medium for creating three-dimensional art and has been honing her skills as a cloth doll designer for the past eight years. While designing the costumes for her dolls, painting their faces or making the perfect pair of shoes, she has the enjoyment of incorporating all the techniques that she loves so much into one caricature that has logged itself into her imagination. Beverly will be playing with dolls for quite some time!

Beverly's work can be seen at her studio by appointment.
