EventsThe next general membership meeting will be held Monday June 7 at 7:00 PM at Selkirk Montessori School, directions below under "Read more"
After the official part and the snacks, but before we break for
summer, Peggy Brackett (& Jo Ludwig) will demo glass bead making.
Although the demo will not go into details, you will get an idea of
how glass beads are made and how "... they get the little hole in the
middle".
Also, just so you know, we now have a bulletin board built into the IAA website (on the "Bulletin Board tab above). It is fully functional, but not quite ready for the grand opening yet . . . we still need to get some moderators up to speed on how it works. I have started to get a handle on it, but I will be away for June so it will likely be after that before we can explain it to everyone and get everyone using it. In the meantime, feel free to check it out. You can read any announcements (mostly just test ones at this point) but have to register before you can post. If you feel adventurous, you can do this now, but I will be emailing complete instructions once we're ready to roll. Your first posts have to be approved before they will show up -- if you wonder what the reason for this is, well, in less than a week I have already had to disapprove about a dozen sex site, viagra and similar ads that spammers have tried to post. Once it is fully functional, all IAA members will be able to post freely -- and others will need to be approved.
And finally, we are looking at implementing some changes to the way IAA functions. At the June meeting, the board will present to the membership a change in a long standing tradition: As of September, the membership meeting will be moved from the first to the second Monday of every month. Reacting to feedback from a number of members, the board feels that the second Monday of every month is more convenient, and consequently, more members would, it is hoped, attend the monthly meetings. We are also looking at changing the meeting frequency to once every two months. To put in your two cents worth, come join us on Monday.
