Monthly General Meeting

General Meeting, Monday March 1, 2010, 7:00 PM at Selkirk Montessori School

A New Year is beginning for the IAA. After the short business portion, we'll be having a round-table social & discussion: What are your New Year's Resolutions for your art or your business? Share your rituals of renewal with your colleagues and pick their brains for ideas...
Do you hold a business strategy meeting to plan out your year? Do you do an annual review of your business? Do you plan out your year in broad strokes, or not at all? Do you have rituals to start out the new year, like cleaning your studio or renewing memberships or finish your accounting?  Have you ever used the services of a business consultant or coach? How do you inspire yourself to get back to work after all the holiday exuberance? How do you get inspired to create new work?

It's the New Year: let's celebrate and share our insights and wisdom! See you there with your party hat on!

Also, being the AGM means we will be electing a new board. If IAA is to survive as a viable organization, we desperately need new blood on the executive. It is not a particularly scary commitment -- we meet once a month, with the exception, usually, of July and December, so at most you will have to attend 10 meetings a year. We schedule the meetings to fit in with the availability of those on the board. Your ideas and input are what is needed the most. You will not have to take on extra duties unless you want to -- no one is going to twist your arm. So please consider letting your name stand for election. You can either speak to one of the board before the meeting and let them know so they can nominate you or volunteer yourself when we call for nominations. If you can't make it to Monday's meeting and would still like to put your name forward please email or call and let us know.

And, being a new year also means memberships are due. Mary will be processing them at the meeting or you can mail your $40 to:

Island Artisans Association
P.O. Box 5322
Victoria, BC  V8R 6S4

Please remember to make any cheques payable to Island Artisans Association, NOT IAA or any other abbreviation or anything like that. The reason for this is that the bank has a tendency to reject any cheques for deposit that aren't made out to the full name.

Hope to see you on Monday!
